I am a thinking person. Small details excite me.
Theoretical tools are instruments of power, harnessable at any moment. This is interesting, or it is it. The mind, my mind, can draw some reasonable line of thought, and whatever my mind drew up has some true implication on the world. How absolutely riveting.
My eyes strain while solving a quantum mechanics problem on my iPad screen ––the compound effect of red, green, blue (RGB) subpixels in our devices that construct particular arrangements of light our eyes interpret as images. Someone’s theoretical tools turned into new data, new information my eyes have seen that someone’s eyes 200 years ago could not. How absolutely nontrivial.
The smoke alarm went off, just now. It knows when smoke is there because someone told it to, so now my house is not on fire. Or if it were, I would know not to be in it.
Theoretical tools are instruments of power. The struggle to obtain such tools, then the struggle to know when to use them, is about all there is to do in this short time that I am thinking.
